| Deck Railing | Stair Railing | Exploded View | View Printable Version |
Tools Needed |
1. Deck Images ™ recommends pre-fabrication of full welded picket sections as outlined below and erecting into position.
2. For 36 high railing trim all 34 1/4 deck posts requiring drop in top rail sleeves with mounts to overall height of 34 (including ¼ base plate).(IE. Corner posts, center posts with straight top sleeves etc.) For 42 railing trim all 40 ¼ deck posts requiring drop in top rail sleeves with mounts to overall height of 40 (including ¼ base plate) (IE. Corner posts, center posts with straight top sleeves etc)
NOTE: This step is critical in maintaining uniform rail height and adequate glass bite into upper glass insert, allowing for height differences on posts requiring top rail sleeves and posts attached to top rail using post mounts. Do NOT fasten top rail sleeve to post at this time.
3. Determine post type and placement locations. Center post with straight center sleeve with mount is required to join sections over 22 feet in length over a post location. NOTE: Typical welded panel sections are available in 22 7/8 lengths- Custom lengths available on request.
4. Typical center posts require removal of picket by cutting lower bottom rail channel post width plus any required tolerance clearance. Remove picket upon cutting of bottom channel. Post is fastened to top rail using post mount (Part # 1015010 View Detail) and attached to bottom by screwing lower rail to welded lower sleeve or alternatively using (Part # 090101*)
5. Install required support legs at mid point location between post spans as required.
6. Attach welded panel sections with installed center post to corner, end and center joiner posts and fasten top sleeve to railing section using #12 X 1 ¾ stainless steel screws. Position railing on 2 ½ centerline and fasten to deck substrate using appropriate fastener.
36 Surface Mount Welded Picket Stair Railing Installation
1. Determine stair bottom and mid-post locations (Refer to deck instructions if stair landing is present)
2. Cut bottom stair post to the desired height and angle. Mid rail stair post will involve cutting lower bottom rail channel and removing 1 picket. Cut mid post at desired height and attach to top rail using stair mount plate. Attach lower welded picket channel to posts using lower stair mount sleeves.
3. Attach pre-fabricated stair section to upper stair post.
4. Secure mid posts and bottom stair post to the stair treads.
5. Install end cap to open end of rail.
